Knit Diva

Me and my obsession has come a long way since last couple of years... I definitely still consider myself a beginner and always looking to improve my obsession. I think it is my "CALGON"... It takes me away from my busy life with a wonderful husband and 8yo twin boys... YIKES!!! I never understood how addicting yarn could be until I started knitting.. I have crochet for some time on and off but I never felt attached to it as I do with knitting...

WELL is everyone READY???

Anyone have any New Year's Resolutions... I do not make New Year's Resolutions for myself, because I don't want to be a "FAILURE" at something. So I look at what I want to accomplish or try for the year... BABY STEPS!!!! I try to push myself a little harder at whatever it is I want and go from there. (One step at a time and not over do it..hehe) New Year's Resolutions usually are losing weight, quitting smoking, being on time, getting organized and what have you...LOL!!!! Most of the time people break their New Year's Resolution within a couple of months...LOL

So I am making a list of what I want to accomplish in 2006!!!! Since my knitting is my passion, I am making a list of things I would like to learn and try... For ex. DPN's...hehe, a sweater, throw blanket, cabling and couple other things that I am putting on my list..

I did go to JoAnn's with my mom the other day and bought some really cute "Diva Needles"...LOL They are sparkly in all different colors and in sizes: 9, 10, 101/2, 11, 13, and 15's...LOL So since I bought them I had to try them out so I started a cute purse on some wool yarn I had in my stash... It is an easy pattern from Crystal Palace and when my darn digital camera's battery is charged I will post a pic....LOL Well, here is the pic... I got these needles for $10... They are different so I had to get them...hehe

I hope everyone has a wonderful New Year's Eve and Many blessing to come for 2006!!!!

Mom's Scarf Finished!!!!

My mother had a bunch of yarn laying around while we were wrapping Christmas presents. There was a bag that hasn't been touched in over a month so I opened it...hehe She liked how I made the first sideways scarf and bought this yarn. I told her to give it to me and I will make the scarf.. She didn't want to part with the yarn (she thought I would keep it for myself...LOL!!!) I told her that I would knit it up for her and give it back...

WELL, I finished it and I do have to say so myself that it came out beautiful!!!!! I really do want to keep it for myself but it will be going to her house tomorrow before I change my mind..

These are the easiest scarves to make... I Casted On 140 stitches on a 13 needles and knitted the scarf in a garter stitch... These are so easy and fun to do... I will probably make myself one in brown and pink to match my suede coat...hehe

NOW, I get to work on my "To DO" list for 2006....YEAH!!!! I can knit at my own leisure...hehe I just don't know what I am in the mood for... I really can't get much knitting done this week with the boys out of school but I will be checking out my patterns to write down what I am interested in...

What are you thinking about working on in the coming year???? (Give me some pointers...hehe)

Strep Throat and Christmas!!!!

WELL, whatdoyouknow....hehe Jacob woke up with a sore throat this morning and I just knew what it was... My boys never show any of the signs for Strep besides their tonsils being a little swollen... Of Course, NO Dr's Office is open today so the trip to Urgent care we go this morning!!!!! LOL

The place was packed with little sick kids!!!! We waited and hour and a half to be seen... The dr. checked his throat and said there was really no signs of Strep but I insisted on them doing the test... WELL, that Dr. ate his WORDS!!!! He said he would have put money on it that Jacob didn't have Strep... We told him that usually there is no NORMAL signs with my twins that they have it... But, they always do in the end... No FEVER, No yucky stuff on the tonsils or the throat. AND they very rarely complain about their throat hurting... After five minutes of waking up this morning he said it didn't hurt anymore....ROFL!!!!

The Dr. was flabergasted and told us that since the boys are so prone to getting it that even if they say that the test comes back negative, they should treat it as Strep... So we are already one dose of Amoxicillian into it and another dose in an hour or so...LOL!!!

I am so glad that we caught it in time so he would not be miserable tomorrow... Poor Baby!!!!

My boys are soooooo ready to PARTY it up at my sister's house in a few hours... They are looking forward to it..

As you can see in the picture that I put the face on the wrist band... Soooo cute!!! I forgot to take a picture of my wine cozy and the scarf I made for my MIL so I will have to post it tomorrow or Monday...

I hope all of you have a WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

Finished a Boogie Time!!!

It is one of Knitty's new patterns.. It is the wrist watch band... It was a super easy pattern and I think that one of my neices will like it.. I have to find a cute watch to whip stitch it on.. But, I think it came out cute... I do think next time around I will make one with bigger needles. The stretch capacity is not there like I would have liked but it will fit her so I am not fretting...

My neice is only 7 yo but she is kind of on the punky side and I just love it!!! I plan on making her some fingerless gloves for her Birthday next month...hehe

It has been so cold here and I have not really felt up to par lately... grrrrr I started knitting a scarf and I am still trying to finish my last hat... I think I burned myself out on hats but that is OK I will get over it...hehe I plan on knitting one up for my Dad... I bought some Black Red Heart the other day to make some black hats... Red Heart is really warm on the head... My hubby wears his ALL the time!!!! Even indoors...LOL

Everyone stay warm today!!!!

Sideways Scarf Finished!!!!

I had to try out a Sideways Scarf and it was so easy!!!! It took me a day to finish... The most time it took was putting on the fringe at the bottom. I used a 13 circular with a 140 caston... It is nice and light and very airy... It came out a lot longer than I thought it would but I am impressed with the colors. I did a regular garter stitch.

It is very earthy and a little spice to go along with it... I might make up a couple MORE of these... Like I don't have enough on my plate as it is with projects.. OH WELL, I guess that is the day in a life of a full blown knit addict... ROFL!!! So many projects going and not enough hours in the day to finish them ALL!!! I think that is what is so darn fun about knitting...hehe This scarf would make a nice gift for the holidays though... Even though I promised myself I would not put pressure on myself over knitting gifts... But since it is already done, it might be a possibility...hehe

Well, Sandra tagged me to look into my messy "KNITTING BAG"!!!!! ROFL OK, BEWARE... It is pretty much my catch all bag... The picture will be "MINUS the french fries" at the bottom of my bag....hehe

Another HAT I am working on!!!!

This is another HAT of course that I am working on.. I thought I might as well make one that was kind of girlie either for myself or for someone else... This yarn is fun to work with... The colors are pretty... It is a tweed. It is called Chelsea Silk with 65% Silk and 35% Wool... I am hoping to have this done soon since I have so many other things that I need to be knitting....LOL I have been playing with that DIY Crossover Pattern scarf to get the hang of it before I really start a REAL scarf... The crisscrossing is OK but after you finish that and have to knit is where I keep messing up and so I will keep practicing until I get it right... The yarn I was trying to use is not working out for me so I will have to dig in my stash to try something else...

Wendy has had me thinking about making some scarves... I think I might make a couple of scarves since it is so darn cold outside... I swear I hate when it is COLD!!!!! I wish my family would move where it is much warmer and I don't have to worry about bundling up so much to go get the mail....LOL

Christmas is right around the corner and it seems like December is almost over!!!! It has went by so FAST!!!! I don't have as near the Christmas shopping done as I hoped but I will be doing some shopping very soon so I won't stress about it... My anniversary is on the 20th!!!!! The BIG 8 years....ROFL If it is not extremely COLD we might go to St Louis and Ice Skate at the outside Park. If not, we will go close by to the indoor...hehe We don't do too much since it is so close to Christmas...LOL Schucks!!!!

What Missouri looked like yesterday!!!!

Where I was we had almost 4 inches... It was so pretty!!!! The boys got off early yesterday from school and had fun playing in it.. They had a SNOW DAY today!!!! It was a little unbearable today to play but atleast the roads are cleared but everything else is snow covered...

I even got out there yesterday and played in the snow with the boys... Froze my hiney off but it was fun... This type of snow was not good to make snow people in because it was a dry type of snow... It was definitely snow to sled ride in though... We threw some snow balls, rolled around and made snow angels.... LOT of fun!!! This was the first snow the boys really got to play in...hehe (OVER PROTECTED MOMMY!!!! ROFL) We really have not had a good snow and this was a blast. Logan lost his FIRST tooth the other day and the Tooth Fairy came with MONEY in return for his first tooth... His brother has lost 2 bottom teeth already and asked his dad if he could "KNOCK OUT" his top front teeth so the Tooth Fairy doesn't have to make a second trip to our house... I was rolling on the floor laughing in hysterics....ROFL!!!! Kids!!! AND what they come up with...LOL They are so driven by money at an early age.. It just amazes me how fast they pick this up....hehe So after we froze to death in the fun filled snow day we came in and drank some nice hot coffee and cocoa... The coffee was for me of course... I didn't get much knitting done yesterday but I did surf the web to find some really cute patterns... I will be putting them up on the blog soon!!!!

Wendy and I had our day planned out (Before finding out the boys were off school) to go to Barnes and Noble and drink coffee, look at some knitting books and knit!!!! This was postponed since ALL of our boys were off school and that kind of hindered the plan... I don't think they would have enjoyed their selves as much as we would have... So maybe a different day we can plan our day of "HEAVEN"...ROFL

I hope everyone has a Wonderful Weekend... TGIF

As you all know this by NOW!!!

Knitty's new patterns came out.... I looked at each one and none of them really caught my eye this time... It might when my New Year's knitting Resolution comes out!!!! ROFL Making a sweater is on my list...hehe

I have been so busy making hats.... I have 5 to make!!!!! CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT!!!!! My hubby was so proud of his ribbed beanie that he wore it at work all day... He had 2 officers from work wanting BLACK ones!!!!! ROFL They kept asking him "Where did you buy that hat?" He told them that he didn't buy it...LOL They asked, "Where did your WIFE buy it?" He told them she didn't buy it, she made it!!!! They were so flabergasted that they had a request for a black one... The Chief was just laughing at all of them for being silly over a beanie hat... hehe

It made me a little PROUD since these hats are the easiest pattern I have EVER done besides wash cloths...LOL I will say that the Charcoal one came out perfect...hehe

Plumpy we could tag team the market with HATS and SCARVES!!!!! ROFL!!!! So I guess until Christmas my needles will have nothing but hats on them... I hope I don't get bored with them... It only takes me about 3 days of working on them in the evening...

I have my Knitting Club tomorrow so that will give me some uninterrupted knitting time and relaxing... Sipping on my nice Frozen mocha...LOL (Yes, I know it is 20 degrees out and I still have to have a frozen coffee... I am crazy!!!!)

Stay Warm out there!!!

Hat Request GONE WILD!!!!

Well I have been knitting up beanie ribbed hats like crazy...hehe I have made up 2 hats for my sons and my hubbies is on the needles...hehe I was instructed to make his as quickly as possible..LOL!!!! For once, he thinks my knitting is for something useful..... ROFL And not my addiction...hehe

Well funny thing happy yesterday, my boys ride the bus with their two cousins and the eldest of the 2 is 10 yo...hehe He took Jacob's hat yesterday home because he like it so much... He did return it this morning... (Which Jacob was so happy about...LOL) Can you believe they are TWINS!!!!! Amazing huh!!!!!

I called my nephew this evening to ask him if he wanted his own hat. He said that he would like one and so I proceeded to get colors that he liked and so I couldn't leave out my other nephew so he picked out his colors also... ROFL!!!! They picked Black with Yellow stripes and the other Black with green stripes... I have been enjoying making these hats and they are so easy to finish... My wonderful cousin came up with a perfect decrease pattern for this hat and I couldn't have found a better way to decrease and have a smooth flush top...hehe Thanks Wendy!!!!

Now, before long I will want to make me one because waiting at the bus stop for 3 minutes was bitter COLD!!!!! And the bus stop is right in front of my house...hehe

I hope everyone is trying to stay warm and I am totally jealous to those that are living in climates that don't hit the below zero factor... You all are so lucky!!!! Can't go too far away from momma...hehe Or I would be living where I never have to go through another crappy Winter again...ROFL!! Gotta love the Midwest for its unpredictable weather.... 80 degrees in November and the next day it's 30... I feel sorry for those that come to visit relatives that are not adapted to the screwed up weather here...

Have a Great Night!!!!!
