Knit Diva

Me and my obsession has come a long way since last couple of years... I definitely still consider myself a beginner and always looking to improve my obsession. I think it is my "CALGON"... It takes me away from my busy life with a wonderful husband and 8yo twin boys... YIKES!!! I never understood how addicting yarn could be until I started knitting.. I have crochet for some time on and off but I never felt attached to it as I do with knitting...

Grandma you would have been proud!!!!

Well I know I haven't posted in awhile...hehe (Sorry!!!) I have been working on that wavy pattern scarf and my little pumpkin toppers... Thank God those go fast because I still have quite a few to make for the boys' classroom

I also have been working on my grandma's socks... I am at the point of turning the heel and doing the gusset part... Plumpknitter is going to help me today to do it right so i don't throw them out the window....hehe

I am gonna call them "Lillie" in honor of my grandma... She would be proud...hehe

Anyway, I am gonna try to get the heel done on the socks and I will post the pictures..

Impossible Princess is having a Harry Potter Knitalong and I have been looking at patterns to participate... I really like Hermione's hat and mitten set... I might just buy the pattern and do that... I would love to make a scarf also..

I had the sorting hat sort me yesterday to find out what I would be in and I am a Gryffindor all the way...LOL!!!

TGIF!!!! We are going riding this weekend and going to a Pig Roast Saturday so it is going to be a busy weekend...

Have a Wonderful Day!!!

Well I have been a busy little Beaver!!!

I have been working on 3 different projects at a time and looking for more to start... Can you believe that!!! (Well, you probably have the same problem as me...hehe) Anyway, I have had another child home from school today with this stupid fever... (just a fever!!!) No biggy though!!!!

I have been slowly making progress on my Clapotis... I will probably have that darn thing done by next year....LOL (If I am lucky!!!) I get bored with it easy so I had to move on to other projects....hehe

So I started on Wavy from Knitty in the TLC Surf and Turf yarn that I used for my beanie hat.. I think the colors will look cute with this pattern..

I ALSO have been making Pumpkin Pencil toppers for my boys classmates... I will have to make around 40 of these little things...LOL They are so quick to make so it won't take too long to do .... I hope not!!! I will be putting faces on them with black thread after I finish all of them... That will probably take the most time out of all of it... I might just glue googly eyes on them and embroider the mouth.

I have been checking out hat patterns to start for the fall/winter season coming ahead very shortly. I am just in the mood to start cozy patterns with fall colors...

I think I might venture out and make some stitch markers also.. I have used so many objects to keep count of my stitches that I think it is about time I invest in my own concoction of stitch markers...hehe

TGIF!!!! I am so ready for the weekend!!! I hope everyone has a wonderful Weekend!!!

Katrina and NOW Rita!!!!!!

Can you believe this???? It saddens me to see these people on the coast getting tortured with Mother Nature... I am hoping that our Country can pull it together this time and have their stuff together for YET again another destruction... Katrina was HORRIBLE and it caught us with our pants down. I am hoping this is a little more thought out for these individuals...

Not only the families but the animals that are homeless is so sad... I have been checking our Rescues in St. Louis for the Katrina animals that have been transported to our community. I visit Petfinder ALL the time anyway to look in shelters for animals and now that a mass of animals will be up for adoption soon just makes my heart break...

Please keep Texas and Louisiana in your prayers... We have a LONG road of recovery for our Country...

For KNITTING NEWS: I have still been working on clapotis and I am getting bored with it... SO, I started to play with my TLC (Surf and Turf) with a pattern on knitty called Wavy... It is so cute... I will have pictures today to show...

I have been making up a "To Do" list of stuff I would like to make... It has increasingly gotten BIGGER!!!! I have franticly been trying to find a water bottle cozy or carrier on the internet for the past couple of weeks that I would like to do... All the patterns that I have found really has not caught my eye... I might have to make up my own pattern... We will see.. I thought this will be a perfect Christmas present for my 2 sister in laws...hehe Also, cell phone cozies I have been looking at also...

I have been surfing the net about how to make your own drop spindle... I think this would be kind of neat to try out... I guess we will see....

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Day!!!

Clapotis is Started!!!!

I thought this Clapotis Pattern was going to be a big pain in the you know what....LOL!!!! Actually it hasn't been too bad... I am finishing the 2nd Section and will be doing the LONGEST part of the pattern next... I started on Bamboo needles but might have to move to a circular with this one... I bought 7 skeins of Lion Micro Spun (And will probably have to go back for MORE) in a nice salmon color... I couldn't decide what color to pick and I finally just picked this one...

I haven't came to the BEST part of the pattern... (DROP stitches) but I am looking forward to purposely dropping stitches since I totally despise doing it in other projects....

My mom and I went to Borders yesterday and went to St Louis Bread Co or Panera's (depending on where you are in the U.S.) Bought two books.... One was Debbie Macomber "A Good Yarn"... This book is about a knitting shop and it is about a class making socks... The first book was really good also.. It gives patterns in the book... YEAH!!!! I also got a book called Undead and Unwed... She is a Vampire Queen...

THEN today Wendy gave me another book to read.. I will check to see what it is called...

I got my hair colored from my Aunt today... Wendy and I just chit chatted about projects and the NEW adventure BACK to Target for some more discounted yarn.. The scarf she is making now is soooooo adorable... LOVE it!!!!

I am so in the mood to start knitting up some cute scarves and hats for the cold winter ahead of us... It was on the cool side today and a beautiful day to relax...hehe

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Weekend.

What does your Birthday Mean???

Well since I read Knitting Satori's the other day, I thought I would try mine and see what it said... What is so funny is that it is right, right down to the $$$$ LOL... The only thing about not finishing projects is when I feel a since of failure.... grrrrrr!!!!

Well on a knitting note...hehe I was frogging, frogging, frogging to the last stitch with my multidirectional scarf and will start over... For some reason it did not look right... I think I started my first triangle TOO small... I actually thought about getting on the bandwagon and make a Clapotis also... We will see...

It is rainy and YUCKY out today so it is a perfect day to clean and do some reading or knitting..

Catch back with you all later...hehe

Your Birthdate: January 17

Your birth on the 17th day of the month suggests that you are very lucky financially, because this date indicates a solid business sense.
Although you are probably very honest and ethical, this birthday enables you to be shrewd and successful in the world of business and commercial enterprise.
You have excellent organizational, managerial, and administrative capabilities enabling you to handle large projects and significant amounts of money with relative ease.

You are ambitious and highly goal-oriented, although you may be better at starting projects than you are at finishing them.
A sensitivity in your nature, often repressed below the surface of awareness, makes it hard to give or receive affection.

Well I did it!!!!

It is amazing how much you can learn about knitting on the net if you put your mind and fingers to the test...LOL I have learned so much in the past year from wonderful blogs and instructional websites..

I have seen so many bloggers knitting these MultiDirectional scarves and I wanted to give it a try... AND, come to find out you had to know how to do Short Row shaping... WELL DUH!!!! This girl doesn't know how to do that...hehe Usually I would save the pattern for a rainy day to practice the pattern but NO this time I plunged right into learning on how to do this...

I looked at quite a few different sites with instructions and they TOTALLY confused me even more than when I started...ROFL!!! I finally find one that was very educational and very beneficial to this ditz...hehe After I did a couple of rows I was like, " How stupid was I to think this was going to be hard!!!"

You can ask >Plumpknitter when it comes to different stitches that I do not know how to do, I freeze and I am scare to move on...hehe When I seen YO I thought, " Oh my Goodness, I am not doing a pattern with this in it!!!" My Aunt and cousin just laughed at me and said, " Andrea, this is the easiest thing you can do in knitting..." I took their advice and I felt like such a dufus when I seen them do it .... I am such a scaredy cat....

Anyways, I am slowly but surely getting over my fears and venturing out on different patterns that I would not normally try to accomplish...

I will show pictures after I get a little ways into the scarf...

Thanks to ALL you bloggers out there that help me out each day with the wonderful information you post. People like me really do learn from them...hehe

I hope everyone is doing well today... I am feeling a little better today...

What Famous Leader are YOU??

Well I have been surfing the web and bored out of my mind trying to figure out what I want my next project to be... Don't you hate that???? I have ALL this yarn and don't know what to start on... I have been Brainstorming and I guess I am gonna have to pull out ALL the yarn and see what strikes me...

I have a Birthday Party to go to for my niece today so I guess I will figure something out later... I am giving her the potato chip scarf I made last week and some other cute little stuff.. She LOVES My Little Ponies... OHHH, how I can remember playing with those when I was her age...hehe

I hope you all have a wonderful Day!!!

My Jack O Lantern washcloth!!!

Well I will say that I am a virgin to the duplicate stitch and graphing....LOL This washcloth was definitely an experience. It is not perfect but it is cute!!!

I don't know if I will do another one...LOL It is a learning experience and I might try again sometime in the late future..LOL

I have had this horrible upper respiratory infection... I think I have bronchitis... It sucks... My house is destroyed and really I have no energy to care.... ( I cannot wait to get over this)

I am starting on my pumpkin magnets that are made out of i-cord... I haven't really started on anything excited... I really can't think straight to read a pattern...LOL

I hope everyone has a wonderful Saturday...

I Have Been Tagged!!!!

Plumpknitter thought I should let people know a little about me... You little stinker...
So here it is..

Ten Years Ago: I was a Senior in High School only going half day (3 gym classes!!!! ROFL) I forgot to take gym in H.S. Working at a local Bank and driving a 77 Buick Regal... (What a beauty) Moved to Gallup New Mexico with my Boyfriend and got engaged on Christmas Eve. Moved back HOME a couple months later to go to College in Missouri. 2 years later realized I was in a dead end relationship and met the man of the dreams... Got Married 5 months later..hehe Been with him for 8 years...LOL!!!

Five Years Ago: I was a SAHM mom to 1 year old twin boys... Lots of surgeries, therapy and heart ache... Logan was diagnosed with "failure to thrive" meaning he would not eat and so he had surgery to have a G-tube (feeding tube) placed in his stomach for us to feed him.. This was placed there until he was 3years old. (that was just the tip of the iceberg in our lives at the time) We just ventured out with the boys in public for the first time when they were one. They were every bit of what I lived, slept , and breathed.

One Year Ago: Last year was a very sad year for our family... Me & Plumpknitter had our grandfather pass away. It was a very hard time in my life beings that was the last grandparent that was alive. The best man you could ever meet or ever come into contact with. Was soft spoken and never raised his voice. He definitely had patience of steal and a heart as big as the universe.. He is definitely missed but never will be forgotten... Love you gramps!!!!

My boys turned 5 years old and active as ever. We bought them their first ATV's and we as a family had a blast taking them riding.

I learned how to knit and that was the beginning to a NEW obsession. I could not get enough of my NEW hobby...

Five Snacks: Funyuns, wheat thins with cheese in a can, brownies, Frozen mochas, and Twizzlers

Five Songs I know all the words to: I know so many so I will go with recent songs...hehe Mariah Carey (We belong together and Shake it off) Gwen Stefani (Cool), Black Eyed Peas ( Don't Lie, Don't Phunk with my Heart), 50 Cent (Candy Shop, Outta Control), Missy Elliot (Lose Control), Kelly Clarkson ( Since you been gone, behind these hazel eyes, and Because of You)... Sorry!!! Guess I am still a Hip Hop girl..

Five things I would do with a $100million dollars: I would open a book store...(always been a dream of mine....) Make sure my family and close friends are taken care of and our Church...

Five places to run away to: Florida, Bahamas, Europe, Australia, and any beach I could sit back and tan and relax...hehe

Five things I would never wear: One piece swimsuit (talk about claustrophobic), spandex, sports bras, Skorts, Thong swimsuit....LOL!!!!

Five favorite TV shows: House, CSI Las Vegas and NY, Survivor, American Idol, NCIS, MTV freak... I know I am a dork...

Five biggest joys: My twin boys, My wedding, knitting and reading, and have my Best friend Jennifer... She has been there with me through it ALL... She was my support in the hard times with my boys and has been there for the Good times also.... Love ya Jen....
Five favorite toys: My 4-wheeler, computer, My DVR (I am totally spoiled and can't live without it), My knitting, and anything my little heart desires.

First Potato Chip Scarf Completed!!!!

Well I am still trying to recover from this horrendous cold and so I haven't done much of anything besides buy some yarn(which made me feel better..hehe) Some Size 8 circulars 36" for the Potato Chip Scarf...LOL I also went down to my little humble candle store to pick up my favorite candles...LOL Baur Candles I bought Hot Apple Pie, Butter Rum Macaroon, and Oatmeal Cookie... YUMMY!!!

I bought the orange for a project I am doing for the boys' class and I am making Pumpkin magnets. I went to Ben Franklin and picked up that colorful DK yarn and I don't know what I want to do with it but it is so pretty I couldn't resist.. I bought a gauge counter since I lost the one I had...LOL

I finally BO the Potato Chip scarf and I am so thankful that someone has the courtesy to tell me about the Crochet hook BO... It went a lot faster and I am so glad to have that one done...ROFL I might do a couple more of those for Christmas but I will have to make sure I don't have a "BooBoo" on my thumb next time... I cut myself with my razor...hehe (Don't ask, cuz really I don't know how I did it...) LOL These colors are really cute but I think this will have to go to one of my nieces...LOL These are so perfect for dress up.. I will probably make a black and red one for myself... We will see... I guess just add that to my TO DO List....lol

This is my other scarf I put on hold until I finished my Potato Chip scarf... This will be finished very soon... It is so soft and adorable which in turn will probably go to another niece... I don't know if I want to get rid of this one though..

Do you all see a pattern with the colors I have been selecting.. I just realized that and it is quite humorous...

Feeling much better today so maybe I can do some cleaning tomorrow.. Haven't felt like doing anything.. Besides knitting... I haven't even read since my head has been so clogged up..

Happy knitting!!!

Our trip to the Ozarks!!!!

Well we had a nice time camping Saturday with the WHOLE family... 5 Kids under 8 years old and 6 adults and 3 dogs... WE actually enjoyed ourselves and will definitely plan on doing this family gathering every year from now on... Our Family Reunion was very nice... We didn't get to stay for too long because we were just so darn tired... Hubby had to work Labor Day so we had to get home kind of early..

Well, we all have successfully came down with a nice cold to enjoy the rest of the week... YUCK!!!! It is definitely not something I was looking forward to spending my week but I guess I will trudge along to get over this nastiness...LOL

On a better note, we went and seen one of the most beautiful places in the Ozarks.... We went and showed the kids "Alley Springs"... It is definitely a magnificent site to see and the kids FREAKED out at how cold the water was.. The Puppies jumped right into the shallow end of the spring... Wooo Hooooo!!! My nephew was asking my sister, "If this is a bottomless pit, then I bet there are SHARKS in there!!!!" The scenery is so AWESOME!!!! It is definitely a place that you will never forget.. I have went many times growing up and it is amazing every time I see it... It is crystal clear...

I didn't get much knitting done going down or coming home... The last time I tried that going down there for my grandfather's funeral I got car sick... Didn't want to push it!!! During camping was a "no go" because trying to wrangle up 5 kids and keep track of 3 dogs was not a pretty site...LOL We had fun though and so did the kids... They did some swimming in the river and tried to catch some crawfish as we soaked in the sun...

I hope everyone had a nice Labor Day!!!

Finished my first beanie hat...

Well, I can't say that I wasn't calling it bad names at the end but it came out cute... There are some things I would have done differently but it definitely will do the trick this winter...LOL I have to go find a cute aqua shirt/sweater to go with it.

I took another picture of it from above to let you see the pattern from the top... I thought it was going to come out with littler stripes than it did but all in all it was definitely a progress completed...LOL
I would like to make some fingerless mittens to go with this hat... We will see...

I have so many other projects that are in the process or I want to start that I don't know what I want to work on....hehe

I have been searching for Halloween projects to do lately and have found some cute patterns... I found a cute orange and black wash cloth with a jack o lantern face the other day on a blog and for some reason (I hate when I do that!!!!) I cannot found it again.. I am so mad at myself... I have a pattern for a Hot Pad but it just isn't the same... If you know of a pattern with this on it,,, PLEASE let me know!!! I am racking my brain trying to remember and I am getting nothing on the other end... (Which isn't unusual... ROFL!!!!)

I am almost done with my pink scarf and I will take pictures when I am finished... I plan on taking a trip to my Aunt Sherry's to go through some patterns and maybe learn a few things... She is the BEST!!!! Even though I got a talking to yesterday about checking my gauge on my hat!!!! (Hints: My telling it bad words in the process of finishing it!!! LOL)

Anyway, I am planning on venturing out on some socks!!! My Aunt told me I would be hooked if I just learned how to turn the heel and do the gusset... We will see!!!! We will probably see some frustrating posts in the near future...hehe

I am hoping everyone had a wonderful Holiday Weekend!!! I have a couple of pictures to share from when we went to the Family Reunion... Plumpknitter, we definitely missed you!!!! I hope you and Chase are feeling better...

TaTa for now!!!

What an EXHAUSTING day!!!

OFF TOPIC: (Sorry)

It started as a normal Thursday morning... Kids off to school and myself doing some Spring cleaning that never got finished...LOL I bet some of you know what I mean.. I received a phone call from my BIL asking if my hubby was home... He was working... He began to tell me that Ross' dad was being transported to the ICU after his back surgery this morning.... OH MY GOSH!!!! His brother told me that he had internal bleeding and lost A LOT of blood during surgery. His blood pressure dropped at an alarming rate twice while in recovery.

I had to call my hubby at work.. (Which is very unusual so he knew it was serious!!!) His sister, me and Ross headed to the hospital to join my MIL... We had to wait for almost an hour until they got him stabilized...

He looked at Ross and said, "What are you doing here???" ROFL!!! Ross had to explain to him that it is not normal for a man to come out of shoulder surgery (a couple months prior) the same day to go work on rental properties AND then have complications and be sent in the ICU.. His dad told him that he seemed fine to him...LOL!!! Well DAD I wonder why since you were unconscious....hehe He told him later that maybe they were not fast enough with the process so he rushed the process for them... Well I guess so!!!!

Anyway, it was quite a scare to us to get phone call like this today.. He is still in ICU to make sure that he doesn't move a muscle and that the bleeding has stopped.

WHEW!!!! I am so glad everything is OK!!! What a stressful day!!! I am hoping to relax tonight with a little knitting on my hat that I have doing for the past couple of days... The colors of that TLC yarn (Brown&Teal) looks so adorable as a hat... I think I might have enough for some fingerless gloves to match..

My scarf is coming a long nicely and I am hoping to finish it this weekend.. My hat has taken more priority since the colors are so cute..hehe

I hope everyone had a better day than myself today...

Good Evening
